About Us


Harvey's was opened in June of 2009 by two local Appalachian State Grads, Charlie Dyer and Luke Adams.  Charlie and Luke have been friends and co-workers since 1997 and ended up rooming together in college while at Appstate.  Both have had a passion for the restaurant business since their first restaurant positions in 1997 at the previous Hayden's in Pineville, where Luke (at age 18) met and trained Charlie (at age 15) as a host before Luke took off to Boone for school.  After Hayden's, Charlie and Luke moved up the "food chain" in the restaurant business pretty quickly, moving through management at several restaurants and then moving on to their first venture, Harvey's!

The vision for Harvey's is to be almost a neighborhood brew pub without the actual brewery.  The goal is to focus on Craft Beers while keeping an inviting atmosphere to families with young children.  With Live music and unique events, such as our monthly Beer Dinners, ballroom dancing night, crawfish boils, and seasonal brew tapping parties, Harvey's is able to meet the desires of the adult crowd as well.

 "We are Beer Guys, so you will not see the normal line-up of beers on tap.  Our handles will change every month with different beers from around the United States." (Says Charlie)  Not to worry, Harvey's still carries all of you favorite big name domestics in the bottle. 

"WE ARE IN THE APPSTATE BUSINESS!"  Meaning, we support Appstate in any way that we can and hope to be a homecoming to all the alumni and students in the Charlotte area.  Whether its during a big game or just a meal during the week with some other alumni, we want you to know how we feel about Appalachian State University.  Just look at the posters and pictures on the wall, not to mention the uniforms we wear or the Appalachian Ale on special each Saturday during football season.  For updates on the Appstate's Athletics, go  HERE
